True Colors is a children's book written and illustrated by myself and my collaborator Tez Garcia.

 

This book was designed to naturally spark classroom conversations about the value of resiliency, growth, and the role of family and friends during hard times. After many months of research on classroom integration, my collaborator and I finished True Colors.

True Colors follows the main character, Gru, through a tough day where he gets caught in the rain, forgets it's picture day, and more. Throughout his day, we see Gru lose his color, symbolic of his energy and happiness after being faced with trials. If you want to know the rest well... Go read it!
